Bills running back James Cook was about to give his team the lead in the fifth quarter.
But he fumbled before crossing the goal line. With the extra possession, Cincinnati got back into the end zone on a 12-yard pass from Joe Burrow to Mike Gesicki to give the Bengals a 28-18 lead.

However, Josh Allen had something to say about it, rushing for a touchdown on Buffalo’s ensuing possession to make it 28-25.
Cook has four fumbles in the last two games, two of which were losses. Earlier, he nearly gave the Bengals a touch on a fumble near the goal line. But the ball didn’t go out of bounds in the end zone. A possession call negated Cook’s move to the 1-yard line.
Burrow and the Bengals continued their strong play on third down, with the quarterback throwing a 6-yard pass to Ja’Marr Chase for a third-and-4, and then an 18-yard pass up the middle to Tee Higgins for a third-and-6.
After that play, Higgins hit the back of his head on the turf again and had to exit the court.

But it didn’t take long for the Bills to get back on the board to respond. On fourth down, Josh Allen rushed 40 yards to the end zone, making the score 28-25. Via ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg, it was the longest regular-season rushing touchdown of Allen’s career.
