Resident Evil 2 Remake Is Coming to iPhone, iPad and Mac in December

“Resident Evil 2” will be available on Apple devices on December 31st. The 2019 remake of the survival horror classic is now available for pre-order on the App Store. Earlier this year, when Capcom announced a port of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, it was confirmed that the Resident Evil 2 Remake was in development for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. The game will be the fourth Resident Evil game to launch on Apple devices.

The App Store listing for Resident Evil 2 shows that the game is expected to launch on December 31st. The remastered version runs on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 series, and iPad and MacBook models running M1 or newer chipsets. Early parts of the game will be available for free, but users will have to make in-app purchases to access the full game.

Resident Evil 2 will support universal purchases, meaning that once purchased, the game can be played on compatible Apple devices. However, the App Store listing confirms that save data cannot be transferred between macOS and iOS devices. The remake of “Resident Evil 2” will take up about 31GB of storage space. It’s also worth noting that the installation process will require the device to have at least twice the size of the application available in storage. While the game can be played using touch controls on iPad and iPhone, Apple recommends using a controller for a better experience.

In June, Resident Evil 2 was confirmed to be in development for Apple devices. To date, Capcom has released Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: Village, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS as part of Apple’s push to get more AAA games on its devices. In addition to Capcom’s iconic survival horror series, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Phantoms and Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding are also available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

However, it is reported that these AAA console games are not selling well on Apple platforms. A mobilegamer.biz report in June said that the Resident Evil 4 remake had 3,57,000 installs on iPhones, but only about 7,000 people had paid to access the full game.

In July, Capcom confirmed that the next Resident Evil game was in development and would be overseen by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi.
