BioWare has no plans to release a story expansion for Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper, the studio has confirmed. The developer has now turned its attention entirely to the next Mass Effect game. Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper releases on October 31st for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The action RPG had an impressive launch, becoming BioWare’s most popular game ever on Steam.
Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper No DLC Planned
Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper creative director John Epler told the Rolling Store that the studio is skipping downloadable expansion packs for the RPG. BioWare has reportedly shifted its “full attention” to its current project, the next Mass Effect game. However, Eppler didn’t reveal any details about the studio’s next game.
The creative director also talked about the possibility of remastering the first three Dragon Age games for modern platforms, much like the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which bundles enhanced versions of the original Mass Effect trilogy into one package. While Eppler would like to see the Dragon Age game remastered, he said it would be a challenging task.
“I think I’m one of about 20 people left at BioWare who actually used Eclipse,” Epler told the publication. “It’s not as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original game. Never say never, I guess that’s what it comes down to.”
The first two Dragon Age games used a custom Eclipse engine, while the Mass Effect trilogy was built on the widely used Unreal Engine, making the Legend Edition remake a relatively smooth process.
The next chapter in the Mass Effect series, which still doesn’t have an official title, was revealed via a trailer at the 2020 Game Awards. BioWare has yet to reveal any details about the game.
Last week, however, BioWare executive producer Michael Gamble, who is responsible for the team responsible for the next Mass Effect game, said that the next game in the sci-fi RPG series will maintain the mature tone of the original trilogy and adopt a realistic visual style.
Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper launched on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PS5 and quickly topped the Steam bestseller list. The game also became the largest Steam launch in BioWare’s history, attracting more than 70,000 peak concurrent players within one day of release.
