The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to debut in the coming months, with details of the device previously leaked online in the form of a virtual device, giving us a good look at its design. A user on Reddit has now leaked Joy-Con images of the upcoming handheld gaming console. The images suggest that the Japanese company will adopt a more mature design for the second-generation Nintendo Switch, which is expected to debut at the end of March.

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Design (Expected)

User u/SwordfishAgile3472 posted two images of Joy-Con supposedly for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on the console’s Reddit subreddit. These images, taken from the Baidu Tieba forum, show the controller on the back and what connects to the main body.

The most eye-catching part of the new Joy-Con design is that the outer portion has no color, appearing black. There is a blue part that will plug into the console, but it doesn’t seem to be visible once connected.

Unlike previously leaked images that were somewhat blurry, the images of these controllers show smaller details, including regulatory certification icons and serial numbers, suggesting these could be actual images of retail units.

The images appear to support recent claims from another Reddit user, u/NextHandheld, who said the Joy-Cons will be available in a matte black colorway, while the colored parts will be “below the surface.”

Unlike the second-generation Joy-Con mockup image shared on Reddit by user u/Dinosaurin, the new image of the controller shows that the thumbstick and shoulder buttons won’t have any color accents.
