Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has made some notable changes to his coaching staff over the years.
There are smaller things, too, like ending the strange era of frontline coach Jim Turner.
And then there are the big stories, like last offseason’s blowout, headlined by the firing of defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and the hiring of Al Golden to replace him.

It turns out that, at least at one point, Taylor had his sights set on a big shot like current Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson.
“He’s looking for any way he can to get Ben in the building because he has so much respect for him as a coach and he knows any assignment he’s given he’s going to do at a super high level,” Chicago Tribune reporter Brad Biggs said.

this What if? This game will be interesting for Bengals fans. Johnson led the Bears to an astonishing 9-3 turnaround this year after becoming a sought-after head coach.
That Taylor is at least trying to achieve that goal in Cincinnati speaks volumes about his coaching goals for his staff. But it was clear to almost everyone that Johnson was moving toward something bigger.

Over the years, Taylor has needed to return to his smaller-than-most coaching tree, with varying results. But this little nugget at least shows that he also tried to do a double splash outside of it.
