former capitol police officer Michael Fanon During Thursday’s congressional hearing, the former special counsel confronted a MAGA election denier Jack Smith testify.
During Thursday’s hearing, Fanone, who was on duty at the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot, was photographed during a break with Ivan Reckling. At one point, Fanon was stopped by multiple people, including a former Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn. Lakelin is a 2020 election conspiracy theorist and an outspoken supporter of the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters.
Video captured from multiple angles Thursday showed Fanone and Recklin exchanging words before Fanone walked up to Recklin and called him a “traitor to this country.”
Recklin, who was filming himself during the confrontation, asked Fanon why he was so “cramped.”
Fanon crossed his arms and the two continued talking before Dunn came up behind Fanon and tried to pull him away.
“See how many people restrict you?” Laklin asked, and the others also pulled away from Fanone. “Look at me, in complete control of my mind and body.”
A congressional official eventually came between the two men.
“This man threatened my family, threatened my children,” Fanon said as another officer walked into the scene. “Threaten me – threaten to rape my child, you perverted bastard! Rape my child!”
Dunn eventually allowed Fanon to return to his seat. After the confrontation, Fanone warned an officer, “Don’t fucking touch me.”
CSPAN and other reporters in the area captured footage of the tense moment.
“Who thinks I should sue Mr. Fano for defamation?” Lakelin posted after meeting Fano.
Video taken by Lakelin shows him appearing to make contact with Fanon first and say hello. Fanon tells him to “fuck” himself and stop pretending they aren’t “sworn enemies.”
Fanone went on to tell Recklin to “go f**k” himself, while Recklin claimed he was “always professional” with Fanone while also accusing Fanone of suffering from Tourette syndrome.
