Yooka-Replaylee Confirmed for Consoles, Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Teased

Yooka-Replaylee, a remake of 2017’s Yooka-Laylee, is coming to consoles, developer Playtonic Games announced Thursday. The studio confirmed all supported platforms for the game, while also hinting that it will release on the Nintendo Switch successor. In addition to PC, the remake currently in development by the studio will also be released on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo platforms. Yooka-Replaylee was released on Steam in June.

Yooka-Replayee confirmed to log into game consoles

In addition to announcing Yooka-Replaylee for consoles, Playtonic also unveiled a trailer featuring new gameplay footage as well as some of the new content promised in the remaster.

In its statement, the developer did not specifically mention the Nintendo Switch as a supported platform, instead suggesting that the game will release on the Nintendo Switch 2. “Yes! Yooka-Replaylee is playable on PS5, Xbox Series consoles and… Nintendo? (Oh mystery. We will release more information soon!)” said Playtonic. However, the game is likely to be released on the existing Nintendo Switch and its successor due out in 2025.

Steam owners of the original Yooka-Laylee have been confirmed to receive a discount on the remastered version. Playtonic said it is working with other platforms to ensure an upgrade path for the game on consoles. The studio said it will share more details about platform-specific information soon.

A release date for Yooka-Replaylee has yet to be confirmed, but the remaster is now wishlisted on PS5, Xbox, and PC (via Steam).

Announced by Yooka-Replaylee in June, Playtonic promised revised control schemes and camera systems, tweaked abilities, remixes and new challenges, new collectibles, and visual upgrades to the original game.

Yooka-Laylee was originally released in 2017 on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo-Kazooie series, this platformer follows the colorful adventures of Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat.
