PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Yarden Garzon hit all six 3-pointers and scored 18 points as No. 8 Maryland took an early lead and beat Rutgers 88-41 on Thursday night.
Addi Mack scored 15 points for the Terrapins (16-1, 4-1 Big Ten), who hit three 3-pointers to score the game’s first nine points. Maryland led 22-11 after the first quarter, making its first five 3-point attempts. In the entire game, the team hit 16 three-pointers, a season high.

Maryland continued to be hot in the second quarter, once again scoring the first 11 points to open a 22-point lead. Rutgers got its first points on two free throws by Nene Ndiaye with 5:35 left in the second quarter. She scored a team-high 11 points.
The Scarlet Knights (8-8, 0-5) added their second goal about 45 seconds later on a Janae Walker counterattack. They made 1 of 12 shots in this quarter, made 7 turnovers, and trailed 16-44 at halftime.
Things didn’t get much better for the Scarlet Knights in the second half, as Maryland extended its lead to 47 points. At one point, Garzon lost his shoe while passing the ball into the basket. She picked it up and ran back to defense. When the senior couldn’t put her shoe back on quickly enough, she threw it on the scorer’s table.
Rutgers couldn’t capitalize on that, putting her shoes back on after a Maryland fumble.
