Yan Diomande clarifies Liverpool ‘dream club’ talk, full focus with RB Leipzig

Jan Diomande has clarified claims that Liverpool is his “dream club” as speculation surrounding the Leipzig winger continues.

Liverpool are understood to be one of several top teams tracking the teenager, who is one of the Bundesliga’s breakout talents for the 2025-26 season. Diomande has played 15 league games for RB Leipzig this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists.

The numbers also underscore his impact. Across Europe’s top five leagues, the Ivorian ranks in the top 15% for progressive dribbling, successful dribbling, non-penalty goals scored and chances created.

He has been named as a potential option for Liverpool, who are evaluating the winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Recent reports claimed Diomande had earmarked the Premier League champions as his dream club, but the 19-year-old has clarified previous comments.

“People think this is my dream club. But first and foremost it is my father’s favorite club. He has always really wanted to see me there one day because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield,” Diomande told Bild.

“He was always full of praise for Gerrard. I was too young to see him play. We didn’t have a TV at home for a long time. I have a lot of respect for Liverpool but my dream club right now is Leipzig.”

Bayern Munich have also been named as suitors for the Ivorian, although Diomande reiterated that his full focus is on success with Leipzig. He admitted it was a compliment to hear interest from the German champions but said Bayern had not yet been contacted.

“It’s always nice to hear things like this. But I haven’t spoken to anyone at Bayern yet,” he confirmed when asked about the rumored interest.

“It’s not the right time. I’m happy at Leipzig and want to stay completely focused.”
