It’s no secret that Liverpool Women’s football team has had a tough season, especially in the league. Despite the final result, Gareth Taylor’s team did look like they were starting to find some groove.
When it comes to cup competitions, though, the Reds have had a more positive result overall. The team is now one game away from reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals. The only obstacle standing in their way of taking the next step is their crosstown rivals: Everton.

The stakes feel extremely high as a Merseyside derby decides which team takes the leap in search of the big prize. This is the kind of showdown that experts love because the story is what it is: a battle for the city, with extra loot to boot. And, for Liverpool, the hope of drawing something positive from this difficult season continues to find that little bit of life.
If Liverpool can manage to beat the Toffees, they will soon have to wait for news on their quarter-final opponents, as it is reported that the quarter-final draw will take place on Monday. Being able to find out earlier is definitely what I wish for.
But to do that, they first need to face Everton, who are seven points above the Reds in the league and in good form. Liverpool will certainly have their work cut out for them as they try to extend their cup run and reach the quarter-finals.
