Woman falls through bodega’s basement door after cab crashes into her, another woman in NYC

It was no small miracle that a taxi plowed into two women and a grocery store on the Lower East Side Saturday afternoon, causing havoc.

The taxi was near Essex Street and Rivington Street when the driver lost control.

Witnesses said a woman was knocked down and lying on the sidewalk. Another was thrown into the cellar cellar through an opening in the street. She was not seriously injured.

“I was actually talking to the girl in the basement on the other side of the cab, her name was Dina, because her friend said ‘Have you seen my friend?'” We tried calling her name and then we heard a whisper of, ‘I’m right here, I’m right here!’ And then we went around the other side and talked to her through the basement until we told the police she was there,” the witness said.

The FDNY said three people were taken to the hospital.
