Woman accused of animal cruelty, dog fighting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Blytheville Police Department arrested a woman accused of animal cruelty and dog fighting Monday after seizing 36 dogs.

On Monday, police said they conducted an animal welfare check at a home in the 900 block of South Radle Road and seized 18 dogs there.

According to police, information they obtained showed that 15 to 20 dogs were kept in two residences on the same road, and within the Blytheville city limit, one person can have a maximum of five dogs.

Police said the dog’s owner was summonsed to appear in Blytheville District Court.

BPD said they also responded to another home in the 1100 block of South Ruddle, where they located 18 more dogs and evidence of the dogs being used in dog fighting.

Aylemis Estrada, 35, of Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with 18 counts of animal cruelty and 18 counts of illegal dog fighting, police said.

Estrada’s court date is scheduled for Dec. 29.
