Every fast food restaurant has its own signature dish, whether it’s Chick-fil-A’s chicken nuggets, Taco Bell’s infamous Crunchwrap, or even DQ’s sweet Blizzard. When it comes to fast-food burgers, however, big-name chains continue to introduce exciting new twists on the standard patty—from McDonald’s’ tried-and-true Big Mac to Sonic’s All-American Burger. Burger King is no exception.
While the chain is best known for its Whopper, Burger King has also introduced a host of new products based on its signature burger in recent years. According to fans, the chain’s latest burger is so good that it’s not only better than McDonald’s Big Arch burger, but it’s “the best fast food burger” of any drive-thru.
Fans say Burger King’s Ultimate Steak Whopper is the best fast food burger ever
Last month, McDonald’s finally brought a much-anticipated international delicacy to the United States: the Gateway Arch. The burger comes with two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of white cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles, crispy onions and shredded onions, and is topped with the chain’s new Big Arch sauce — a tomato-and-mustard-based spread that’s a far cry from the more mayo-like Big Mac sauce.
However, the burger itself was overshadowed by the McDonald’s CEO’s lackluster attempt at social media, prompting many fast-food executives to respond with videos of themselves chowing down on their product — including the president of BK.
Now that the burger wars are back on fire, we’d love to know what fast food fans think. And, according to taste testers, Burger King’s new Ultimate Steak Whopper blows the Gateway Arch out of the water.
“The Steak Whopper is delicious and one of the best LTOs in recent fast food history,” one Burger King customer wrote on Reddit.
“I had one last night and damn it tasted good,” one BK customer commented under the post, before adding, “The Whopper is way better than the Big Mac.” Another Reddit user had a similar experience with the new Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper, reporting that they “had one over the weekend and it was the best fast food burger I’ve had in a long time.”
Burger King’s Ultimate Steak Whopper, which hit restaurants in January, is an expansion of the steak-and-bacon Whopper the chain launched in early 2025. The new burger features a flame-grilled patty on a toasted sesame seed bun, topped with crispy onion rings, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese and peppery aioli.
“I prefer the Whopper to any burger from Mickey D’s,” one fan wrote on a Reddit thread. Another echoed the same sentiment, claiming “no McDonald’s burger can compare to the Whopper.”
While I’m partial to McDonald’s French fries and crispy Diet Cokes, fan reviews have me pretty convinced that Burger King may take the cake — or should we say meat — when it comes to bigger and better classic burgers. The Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper is only available in BK for a limited time, so you’ll have to act fast if you want to enjoy it your way.
