Why Bears are likely to play international game in Madrid in 2026

Although the NFL won’t announce its 2026 regular season schedule until May, the Chicago Bears appear ready to host international games next season. The NFL has announced it will return to Madrid in 2026 as part of a multi-year partnership with Spain, with Chicago the likely host this season.

The Bears are one of three teams with marketing rights in Spain (the others are the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins). Chicago is the only NFC team of the three, which is one to watch considering the Bears have an extra home game and the NFL typically targets international games.

Chicago also has a road game against the Dolphins, meaning the Bears have two chances to play in Madrid this year. Miami hosted its first NFL game in Madrid last season with a win over the Washington Commanders, so it’s unlikely the Dolphins will play another international game in Spain.

Nothing has been confirmed this offseason, but Chicago will definitely host an international game in Madrid in 2026.
