With the most anticipated game of the Olympics – Team USA vs. Canada – coming up on Tuesday, Team USA will need to stay focused and take care of their game against Switzerland.
Head coach John Wroblewski’s team has won its first two games in Group A, defeating the Czech Republic and Finland by a combined score of 10-1, allowing a total of 91 shots on goal to their opponents’ 25. Seven players scored for the U.S., with Alex Carpenter, Haley Skamula and Hilary Knight scoring two each.
Knight’s goal against Finland was the 14th of her Olympic career, tying the American record held by Natalie Darwitz and Katie King. If the captain scores again in Milan, she will take sole possession of this record.
Switzerland opened the tournament with a penalty shootout victory over the Czech Republic, but lost 4-0 to Canada on Saturday. The U.S. will try to dismiss them in similar fashion before concluding their group play on Tuesday.
