The Open tournament will be the most watched tournament in the state and nationally. Santa Margarita, No. 15 in The Sporting News Top 25 under first-year coach Carson Palmer, is looking for its first title since 2011 against perennial powerhouse De La Salle, which is 12-0 and ranked No. 25 nationally.
The Spartans have won a record seven state championships, but it’s been 10 years since they last hoisted the trophy. Next up is Folsom Academy, which will trail BYU quarterback Ryder Lyons for the 1-AA title in an attempt to win the school’s sixth title, which would break a tie with Mater Dei for second all-time.
McClymonds is another CIF bowl game looking to add trophies. The Oakland school appears to be competing in nearly every division and will compete for the 3-A title this year, which would be the Warriors’ fifth championship and first since 2021.
It should be an exciting few days for football games across the state. Here’s how to watch all the action.
