What we know about Tennessee Titans logo leak, rebranding discussions

A plush football featuring a modified Tennessee Titans logo was removed shortly after being posted on memorabilia and collectibles website Fanatics.com, sparking rumors and discussion about whether the Titans are undergoing a rebrand.

The logo is similar to the classic Titans “fireball” logo, but the flames are removed. Instead, the revised logo features a red outer ring surrounding a white inner ring with a solid light blue circle inside. Nestled within the light blue area are the three stars of the Tennessee state flag, just like the existing logo and the sword-shaped T, but the three points of the T have been whittled down to flat lines instead of sharp edges.

Fanatics, the official e-commerce partner of the NFL and Tennessee Titans, declined to comment for this post. Pegasus Sports, one of the NFL’s official authorized sales partners, had its brand printed on the stuffed footballs that were released in error, despite multiple attempts by The Tennessean to reach Pegasus Sports for comment.

The Tennessean can confirm with sources that there have been internal discussions within the Titans about a rebrand, but could not report whether or to what extent the logo on the plush football will replace the Titans’ current branding or be a feature of the Titans’ future branding.

When reached for comment, a Titans representative said: “We don’t have anything to share at this time.”

The Titans adopted the Titans name in 1999 after playing two seasons as the Tennessee Oilers and have since displayed their fireball logo. The Fireball logo was first unveiled to the public on December 23, 1998, and was the only primary logo used by the Titans for 27 years, although the team made numerous changes to its uniforms, color schemes and branding, and also used the Oilers icon on retro jerseys and merchandise.

The color scheme used on the leaked plush football is more similar to the “Columbia Blue” flavor used during the Houston Oilers era, rather than the primary navy blue that dominated the Titans era.

A transformative era is coming for Titans football. The 2026 season will be the last year the team plays at the current Nissan Stadium, which has been the home of the Titans since 1999. In 2027, the Titans will move next door to the new Nissan Stadium, an enclosed building expected to open to the public in February 2027.
