Through two quarters, Gibbs rushed for just 5 yards on six carries and gained 13 yards on two catches. He didn’t find anything of value either.
Gibbs has been an elite running back this season, both in fantasy football and in real life, so this is shocking to say the least, and it comes at the worst possible time because this week is the fantasy football playoffs.
That’s what happened to Gibbs, causing him to struggle so hard.
What happened to Jameer Gibbs?
It’s really a combination of factors.
The Lions’ downfield tackles were terrible, plain and simple, and part of the credit goes to the Steelers defense, which has been playing at a high level heading into Sunday’s game.

In addition, the Lions’ overall offensive performance was poor, and Gibbs did not get any scoring opportunities. Gibbs’ failed pass didn’t help either.
Hopefully Gibbs has a better second half against Pittsburgh, but it’s hard to say that will be the case.
