West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan recently issued a firm hands-off warning over the future of club captain Jarrod Bowen. According to Graeme Bailey, the Hammers hierarchy are maintaining a firm stance as they prepare for the January transfer window.
The Legend of Jarrod Bowen:
Sullivan reportedly views the 29-year-old winger as an untouchable asset. In fact, he holds the position regardless of the financial offers other clubs may make. The news comes as a huge source of frustration to Tottenham Hotspur and their manager Thomas Frank, who has made the England international a priority target to strengthen their attacking line.

Since joining from Hull City at the beginning of 2020, Bowen has established himself as the east London side’s attacking force. He scored 24 goals last season. The English winger currently has seven contributions this season and continues to lead by example.
Although his current contract guarantees his services until 2030, Spurs have been inquiring about his availability. They had stretched out the last four windows. Due to his importance, West Ham officials believe letting their star player leave mid-season will essentially guarantee their place in the Championship. Bowen had earlier expressed an interest in leaving the club.

Despite strong interest from north London, the West Ham United board have refused to get involved in any talks. They don’t set valuations for their star players. Sullivan has previously hinted at a price in excess of £100m.

However, his current precarious league status has only made him more determined to block all inquiries. Tottenham, meanwhile, must turn to other targets. They are looking to inject more clinical finishing into the final third.
Why West Ham United made the right decision?
The Hammers made the right decision by keeping Jarrod Bowen. Having him in the squad remains the only reliable factor keeping their hopes of survival alive. Selling a key player mid-season shows a lack of ambition.
In a relegation battle, such a move would destroy the morale of the dressing room. While the huge fee looks good on the balance sheet, the cost of losing a top-flight spot far outweighs any direct transfer profit.
