It’s been a tumultuous few days for the east Londoners, with head coach Rehanne Skinner sacked on Thursday, but Hickey says the squad are ready to give it their all this weekend.

“We respect every team we face, but they have 11 players on the pitch and we have 11 players on the pitch, so we will try to play our football and beat them,” Sicchi said in an official interview with the club.

“We’ve had a good run of results in the cup so far, so we want to keep that momentum going. There’s a lot of positives to take from the Liverpool game and the previous games. I feel like we’ve been moving forward. We just have to stick to our game plan and we’ll do everything we can to beat Manchester City and advance to the next round.”

West Ham were denied all three points in their last game. Beata Olsson scored Liverpool’s 87th goal to force the Hammers to a 2-2 draw at Dagenham. Csiki said the team is using the recent disappointment as motivation for this weekend.

She said: “After the game, everyone was very frustrated. The game was in our hands and we didn’t take our chances. We analyzed the game, we discussed a lot and discussed solutions for the next game. We were just doing what we wanted to do on Sunday and focus on the game against Manchester City.”

“The 2-2 draw with Liverpool made us even more eager to beat Manchester City. We have performed very well in the cup and we just want to continue these positive performances.”
