Ahead of this game, FS1’s “First Things First” brought Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on their show and asked him which team he expected to win.

Allen revealed whether he’s rooting for the Seahawks or Patriots, and while his answer was expected, there’s an interesting reason for Allen’s choice.

Bills’ Josh Allen reveals who he’s rooting for in Super Bowl 60

“Sam Darnold, that’s my kid. We go back to the draft, even before the draft, we were hanging out in college before the draft,” Allen said. “We live very close to each other. We spend a lot of time in the offseason playing golf and hanging out together. I support my teammate, No. 14 of the Seattle Seahawks.”

Allen backed the Seahawks to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Allen join Seattle since they are an AFC East rival, the Patriots.

But the reason is that his deep-seated interest has more basis than simply being based on intra-department rivalry.

Allen and Darnold are friends, with both quarterbacks coming from the 2018 NFL Draft class and living close to each other. As Allen said, the two hung out frequently during the offseason, which shows his roots are pretty clear.

The connection between Allen and Darnold is real. His comment about “first things first” not only revealed his deep interest in the Seahawks and Patriots Super Bowls, but also the strong bond he’s developed with Darnold over the years.

Allen’s deep interest in Super Bowl 60 was an easy decision. While he respected Mike Vrabel, Derek Meyer and the Patriots, they were division rivals and his friendship with Darnold made his decision very easy.
