Watch: Commanders WR Deebo Samuel with two ‘Angry Runs’ vs. Cowboys

Don’t tell Washington wide receiver Deebo Samuel that the 4-11 Commandos have nothing to play for in Week 17. During the first quarter of Washington’s Christmas Day game against the Dallas Cowboys on Netflix, Samuel showed everyone why he’s still a fearsome player.

On the Commander’s first possession, quarterback Josh Johnson used some misdirection, faking the ball to running back Ja’Corey Croski-Merritt, then turning the other direction and throwing the ball to Samuel. The veteran wide receiver did the rest, following his block and bursting into the open field, where he eventually encountered Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson. Samuel trucked Wilson away.

That play gained 41 yards.

Deebo isn’t done yet.

He did it again on his second drive in Washington. Johnson found Samuel in the middle to lead the attack. He added more after running back, sending Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs stiff to the ground.

Injuries have impacted Washington’s wide receiver room all season long. Samuel has been a mainstay on the team, though, leading the Commanders in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns. These games highlight the strengths of Samuel, who remains dynamic with the ball in his hands.

Unfortunately, Samuel was the only player who performed well for Washington on Christmas Day against the Cowboys.
