Sometimes it feels like Victor Wembanyama is playing on a Fisher-Price hoop. The 7-foot-4 San Antonio Spurs center often makes other players look insignificant on basketball’s biggest stage.
The 21-year-old has an alien body on both sides of the ball. Midway through the third quarter of a 126-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, Wembanyama showed off his seemingly elastic wingspan while adding a rare NBA aerial display.

The 2023 No. 1 overall pick was trapped by a spinning Jalen Johnson as the Hawks’ leading scorer tried to calculate angles to the rim. But when Johnson lifted the floater, Wembanya jumped and the volleyball kicked the ball into the shot clock.
With this rejection, the Frenchman became the third NBA player to create blocks in 100 consecutive games. Since the stat was introduced in the 1973-74 season, only two other players have blocked at least one shot in as many consecutive games: Patrick Ewing (145 games) and Dikembe Mutombo (116 games).
Wenbanyama blocked 49 shots that night, ranking second in the league this season. He ranks behind only Indiana Pacers center Jay Huff, who has 68 blocks in 2025-26.

In December, as the Spurs improved to 7-1, Vumbanyama had 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in just 21 minutes of playing time, and scored 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting. He came off the bench for his third straight game since missing 12 straight games with a strained left calf.
Wembunyama is still on a minutes restriction, but his impact is still visible.
The Spurs have reached 20 wins in just 27 games this season. That’s tied for the fourth-fastest win total in franchise history.
