WASHINGTON – Vice President J.D. Vance will visit Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Thursday, a person familiar with the matter said on January 20.
Vance will hold roundtables with community members and speak in cities where the Trump administration is working to continue its immigration actions.
Vance defended the killing of Renee Goode by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, calling it a “tragedy of her own making” and claiming she was part of a vast left-wing extremist network. The shooting sparked protests and heated debate among state and local officials.

The protests have been fueled by the Trump administration’s expanded immigration enforcement raids and aggressive tactics by officers, and calls from local officials for ICE to leave the city have grown.
Vance also visited Minnesota with his wife in September to honor the victims of the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church.
On August 27, a gunman opened fire from a church window during a mass at the school. The mass shooting at the church, which also includes a pre-K through 8th grade school, left an 8- and 10-year-old child dead. Authorities said 18 other people were injured, including 15 children and three parishioners in their 80s.
