USC linebacker Eric Gentry discusses his career in Cardinal and Gold

This past weekend was the final home game in the Coliseum for USC’s 2025 senior class. While this year’s team is fairly young, it still features several seniors who have made notable contributions to the USC football program over the past few years.

One of those players is redshirt senior linebacker Eric Gentry. Gentry transferred from Arizona State in 2022, which is head coach Lincoln Riley’s first season. He played a huge role in USC’s defense over the past four years and is now one of the few remaining players on Riley’s first-team squad that went 11-1 in the regular season and advanced to the Pac-12 Tournament.

After his final game in the gym on Saturday night, Gentry discussed his career with the Cardinals and King and how this year’s USC team compares to the 2022 team.

“[This year’s team is] Stronger, more resilient, no ego,” Gentry said. “Everyone listens to each other. Coaches listen to their players. Players listen to their coaches. Being able to handle adversity is more important than anything else. People keep their heads above water whenever things go bad, and whenever things go well. “

As for his fondest memory from his time at USC?

“I think my moment, I think everyone probably knows, I’m jumping on one leg right now [coming out of the injury tent on one leg versus Utah in 2022 to pump up the team],” Gentry said. “I would say at that moment, though, it wasn’t just because it was big or famous. I really wanted to win that game. That’s what I do in training, helping, yelling and stuff like that to keep the team in good shape in training. “

While Gentry and the rest of USC’s senior class have played their final games in the gym, they still have a chance to play for the Trojans in USC’s bowl game. We should find out the Trojans’ bowl destination and opponent on Sunday.
