USC commit Aaryn Washington transferring to IMG for HS senior season

Cornerback Aaryn Washington of Mater Dei, Calif., one of the top prospects in the class of 2027, has announced that he will transfer to IMG Academy for his senior season. He shared the move in a post on his Instagram account on Friday.

Washington, a four-star commit from USC, committed to the Trojans in last week’s Navy All-American Bowl. He told Rivals reporter Greg Biggins that proximity to home and his strong relationship with the USC coaching staff were key factors in his decision. “This is a local school for me and I have a great relationship with the whole coaching staff,” Washington said.

The transfer takes Washington State across the country to Bradenton, Florida, where IMG Academy finished the 2025 season with a 9-0 record and was ranked No. 6 in USA Today’s 2025 Super 25 Football Final Poll, the highest-ranked team in the state. Mater Dei ranked 11th in that poll at 8-3.

Mater Dei cornerback Aaryn Washington takes in the atmosphere of the game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns at Ohio Stadium on August 30, 2025.

Washington missed most of his junior season due to injury. He has 10 tackles in two games, according to Max Preps. As a 2024 sophomore, he recorded 20 tackles and three interceptions. He enters his senior year ranked as the No. 51 prospect in the country, including the No. 5 overall prospect in the state of Florida and the No. 8 overall cornerback prospect, according to 247 Sports.

Washington is expected to join the Ascendants this summer in preparation for his final season of high school and eventual arrival at USC.
