Two Aiken County men were killed in separate motorcycle accidents on Christmas Day.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office said in a news release that a crash occurred in the 1200 block of Georgia Avenue in North Augusta around 8:30 p.m. John A. Robins, 50, of Warrenville, was killed.
Edgar A. Gonzalez Paz, 31, of Aiken, was killed in a single-vehicle accident around 1 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Augusta Road and Atomic Road in Beach Island, according to the coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office noted that Robbins was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he left the road, hit a curb and was ejected. He died around 9 p.m. The coroner’s office and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety are investigating, and toxicology analysis is ongoing.
The coroner’s office noted that Gonzalez was driving a 2017 Honda CB500 westbound on Augusta Road and left the roadway as he approached the Atomic Road on-ramp. He drove into the middle of a grassy field and was ejected. He was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m. while the coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating. Toxicological analysis is ongoing.
