As he prepared to deliver his State of the Union address to Congress, President Donald Trump retweeted a message calling Michelle Obama a “racist” and ranting against a former senior official in Barack Obama’s administration.
In a Truth Society post on Saturday, the president retweeted far-right activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, describing the former first lady as an “anti-white racist.” In his own caption, the president took aim at another black woman in the same administration: former White House counselor Susan Rice.
Trump threatened Netflix to fire Rice, a member of the company’s executive board, writing: “Netflix should fire racist Trump-crazy Susan Rice immediately or face the consequences.”
Loomer’s post must be broader and urge the president to end the impending merger between Warner Bros. and Netflix, which the far-right activist fears will expand Obama’s influence within both companies. The former president and his wife own a production company, Higher Ground Productions, which produces a variety of content on Neftlix’s platform.
Speaking of the Obamas, Loomer wrote: “[P]The positive message from Barack Hussein Obama and his anti-white racist wife Michelle about the Democrats’ impending witch hunt against Trump is likely to be slammed across all streaming services as the Obamas’ “Higher Ground Productions” continues to grow within Netflix.

The two posts were in response to Rice’s warning that companies seen as having crossed paths with the Trump administration would face their own consequences if Democratic lawmakers retake the House and Senate in this fall’s midterm elections and the White House in 2028.
She made the remarks on a podcast hosted by Preet Bharara. Preet Bharara is a former U.S. attorney who was fired by Trump during his first term.
“If these companies think that Democrats, when they’re back in power, are going to play by the old rules and say, ‘Oh, that’s OK. We’re going to forgive all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you violated, and all the laws you circumvented.'” I think they have another thing to do,” Rice said.

Trump has clearly backed Loomer’s characterization of Michelle Obama as a “racist” while still refusing to apologize for the scandal that has engulfed him this month over the posting of a bizarre artificial intelligence video on his Truth social account depicting her and her husband as apes.
The racist depiction of America’s first black president was immediately condemned by politicians on both sides of the aisle, forcing the White House to defend and then retract and delete the post entirely.
Republicans on Capitol Hill were clearly upset by the video and called its release a mistake. Sen. Tim Scott, the Senate’s only black Republican, called it racist.
The former president responded on the podcast, “It’s important to recognize that a majority of the American people find this type of behavior deeply disturbing.
Trump blamed the post on a staffer who had access to his Truth Social account, Natalie Harp, who he said did not watch the video in its entirety before posting it to his account.
In a statement to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump claimed to have watched portions of the video and sent it to his team for review and possible posting on his account. He denied seeing the portion of the video that featured the former president and former first lady.
“I gave it to people, and usually they would look at the whole thing, but I guess someone didn’t, and then they posted it. And then we deleted it,” Trump said.

This isn’t the first time he’s taken content or advice directly from Loomer, either.
In 2025, with Trump back in the White House, the far-right activist found himself with new access to the Oval Office and used it to direct a purge of alleged disloyal figures linked to then-Trump national security adviser Michael Waltz.
Loomer has also supported loyalty-driven purges of officials in other parts of the government, with one notable victim being the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey. His daughter, Maurene, was fired from the Justice Department in July.
Loomer herself has faced accusations of racism amid constant vitriol against Democrats, including in the fall of 2025, when she was widely condemned for making a racist slur against Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, whom she called a “ghetto black asshole.”
