Trump called this CNN reporter ‘stupid and nasty.’ Her 6-word response set the record straight

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins is responding after President Donald Trump insulted her as “stupid and obnoxious” in a social media post.

Collins is the latest female reporter to come under fire from Trump after her reporting last week on rising construction costs for the controversial White House ballroom project upset the president.

“Caitlin Collins of Fake News CNN, always stupid and dirty, asked me why the new ballroom cost more than originally thought a year ago,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday, spelling Collins’ first name. “I say that because it will be twice the size and the quality of the finishes and interiors are already at the highest level.”

“It’s bigger and prettier than originally planned,” he said.

Collins responded to Trump’s comments on Saturday in an Instagram Story post that has now expired.

Collins said that in the interview that Trump appeared to refer to, she asked him whether he would accept a new FIFA peace prize while threatening military action against Venezuela and bombing suspected drug-smuggling vessels off its coast.

“Technically my question is about Venezuela,” Collins wrote on Instagram, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Collins questioned Trump on Friday about the Peace Prize and his controversial ship attacks.

“I can tell you, I did solve eight wars, and we have a ninth, but — no one has done it before,” Trump told Collins on the red carpet before accepting the inaugural Peace Prize. “But I really want to save lives. I don’t need a prize. I need to save lives. We’re saving a lot of lives. I’ve saved millions of lives, and that’s what I really want to do.”

CNN anchor Jake Tapper later defended Collins when it came to Trump’s Social Truth statement.

In a post on X, Tapper pointed out Trump’s spelling error and said her question was “legitimate.”

Trump has a history of lashing out at female journalists.

Last month, he called a White House reporter a “piggy” after she asked him about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Later that month, Trump called New York Times reporter Katie Rogers “ugly inside and out” after she co-authored a story titled “Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces the Reality of Aging in the Office.”
