Former five-star recruit Deuce Knight will remain in the SEC.
The former Auburn quarterback committed to the University of Mississippi on Sunday, On3 reported. Unless Trinidad Chambliss can successfully challenge the NCAA’s ruling stripping him of a sixth season of eligibility, the Rebels will need a new starting quarterback in 2026.

Knight appeared in two games during the 2025 season, and Auburn made sure he kept his redshirt. He played in the Tigers’ Week 2 win over Ball State and started the Tigers’ penultimate game of the season against FCS rival Mercer.
Against Mercer, Knight completed 15 of 20 passes for 239 yards and two scores, while also rushing 9 times for 162 yards and four scores.
He is one of many Auburn offensive players to enter the transfer portal after the season. The Tigers fired Hugh Freeze with three games remaining in the 2025 season and hired South Florida coach Alex Golesh at the end of the season. Former USF quarterback Byrum Brown has committed to Auburn for his final season.
Chambliss finished eighth in the Heisman voting and Mississippi State entered the College Football Playoff with an 11-1 record. The Rebels lost to Miami 31-27 in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday night. On Friday, Chambliss found out the NCAA would not grant him a sixth year of eligibility, though it appears he will legally challenge the ruling.

The former Ferris State quarterback took over at quarterback in Week 2 after starter Austin Simmons suffered an ankle injury in Week 1. Simmons will also be connecting from Mississippi State to Missouri.
Knight, a Mississippi native, is the No. 25 recruit in the country in the 2025 class. When he signed with Auburn, he was the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 5 quarterback in the country.
