Star guard Trae Young raised some eyebrows when reports surfaced that his preferred trade destination was the Washington Wizards. Players generally don’t want to be traded to Washington. If anything, the opposite is usually true.

However, Young wanted the Wizards, and he finally got his wish, with the Atlanta Hawks moving him to Washington earlier this week.
During his introductory press conference with the Wizards, Young explained what appealed to him about Washington.
“I’m very excited. To me, Washington, D.C., is overlooked as a big market. In the NBA, I feel like it’s a big market,” Young said. “I just feel like I have a chance to be myself. The people around me have obviously known me for a long time and they know what kind of person I am and what kind of winner I want to be.
“I know it’s a day-in and day-out process. I know what it takes. It’s not going to be easy. But I know it’s a place that I’m excited about and I get excited every time I hear it’s possible.”
