Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., harshly criticized “Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar on Saturday for being a “complete fraud” while discussing her criticism of fraud investigations and scrutiny of significant discrepancies in her financial disclosures.
“Not only should her accountant be fired, but that girl should be fired, she doesn’t deserve to be in Congress,” Emmer told “The Weekend Show.”
He added: “Frankly, if she is found to have personally participated in and benefited from any such fraud, even through publicity and attempts to fend off investigations, she should be held accountable to the fullest extent.”
Emmer’s comments were specifically aimed at the controversy surrounding Omar’s financial disclosures, which recently came under scrutiny after a filing appeared to significantly inflate her net worth.

Omar’s office denies she is a millionaire and blames the discrepancy on a major accounting error after congressional financial disclosures showed her assets were as high as $30 million, sparking questions from Republicans and congressional watchdogs.

A redacted filing reviewed by The Wall Street Journal shows Omar and her husband’s assets range from $18,004 to $95,000, down sharply from an earlier disclosure that estimated their holdings were between $6 million and $30 million.
“The revised disclosure confirms what we have said all along: the congresswoman is not a millionaire,” Omar spokesperson Jaclyn Rogers told the Journal, adding that the document was corrected “as soon as the discrepancy was discovered.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., was similarly critical of Omar during a Sunday appearance, telling “Fox & Friends Weekend” that he has been pushing for the House Ethics Committee to investigate the matter.
“We shouldn’t do this [investigate it] Oversight Committee member, but because she was a person of interest in the Somalia fraud case, I’ve been trying to understand that,” Cuomo said.

“Now that this financial disclosure form has changed, I think the ethics committee has a lot of questions for her and we’re going to continue to push them to make sure she has to answer those questions.”
