The Minnesota Timberwolves may expect Rudy Gobert to miss Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The All-Star center fouled out late in the second quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension unless the foul was later overturned. In this game, Gobert hit Marvin Bagley III in the face with his forearm while fighting for a rebound. It was initially called a common foul, but the referee ruled it a flagrant foul after review.
Gobert has already missed one game because of a flagrant foul he received on Victor Wembanyama on Jan. 13 against the Milwaukee Bucks. No other NBA player has committed more than four fouls this season.

The Frenchman has been whistled for 6 flagrant fouls this season, earning a total of 7 points (flag 1 equals 1 point, flag 2 equals 2 points). A player who scores five or six points in a season will be suspended for one game if he is awarded one malicious point, and will be suspended for two games if he is awarded two malicious points.
However, Gobert now has seven points and faces a two-game suspension if he commits any flagrant fouls for the rest of the season. The Timberwolves hope that doesn’t happen with the four-time Defensive Player of the Year.
