Thousands of people descended on the western German city of Bonn on Saturday to protest against the situation in northern Syria.

Police said about 15,000 demonstrators gathered in Bonn’s Hofgarten Park for a rally in support of the Kurds under the slogan “The situation in Syria.”

According to a statement, hundreds of police officers were on hand to “accompany and protect the rally,” which “did not occur without any major disturbance.”
