This is San Diego’s friendliest neighborhood, according to Nextdoor

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Nextdoor, the hyperlocal community social networking service, has released its 2026 ranking of San Diego’s friendliest neighborhoods. Can you guess which region tops the list?

The annual ranking analyzes how residents interact on Nextdoor, the community-based social network used in more than 100 million communities around the world. The company’s data highlights communities where neighbors are the most supportive, welcoming and motivated to help each other, according to a press release detailing the rankings.

Pacific Highlands Ranch earned first place based on interactions between neighbors on the platform. Behind that community were Kensington in second, Westwood in third, Rolando in fourth and Seven Oaks in fifth.

The company explains that the areas are ranked using Nextdoor’s “Friendliness Score,” which ranks neighborhoods based on positive interactions. Scores are calculated using multiple indicators of active community engagement, including:

  • Posts with a positive or negative tone

  • Accommodate a neighbor’s request for help or advice

  • Posts expressing neighbor’s pride or dissatisfaction

  • Number of free items shared in the “For Sale & Free” section

  • Posts that welcome replies

  • Neighbors promote or recommend local businesses

A complete list of San Diego’s friendliest neighborhoods can be found here.

The rankings are designed to provide potential residents, real estate professionals and current San Diego residents with a data-driven perspective on where community connections are strongest across the city, the platform said.
