Chelsea could reportedly bring in a centre-back next summer but it is likely to be seen how Levi Colwell recovers from injury and whether a defender leaves.
The Blues have been busy again this summer and have invested heavily in the squad, completely revamping their forward line.

The January transfer window is approaching but Chelsea are reportedly not expected to be active, but things could change soon in football.
Chelsea could bring in a centre-back
While the Blues are expected to be quiet next month, that hasn’t stopped them linking up with players, especially in defence.
Chelsea have been linked with Nottingham Forest’s Mourinho and have also been linked with Marc Gueye, although a move to Crystal Palace is unlikely.

However, a move for a centre-back in January seems unlikely, with The Telegraph reporting that the Blues could move for one next summer.

The report adds that Chelsea are likely to see how Levi Colwell returns from his anterior cruciate ligament injury and whether the defender leaves before plans are finalised.
The Telegraph adds that talented youngsters Aaron Anselmino and Mamadou Sarr, currently on loan, will also be assessed.
Aaron Anselmino is not for sale
Anselmino was signed from Boca Juniors and made his debut in the Club World Cup and is now on loan at Borussia Dortmund where he has impressed.
The youngster has earned praise from Niko Kovac, who believes Dortmund are interested in signing him permanently.

However, the Blues are believed to have made their position clear that Anselmino is not for sale and if his excellent form at Dortmund continues, it’s hard to imagine he won’t be part of the first-team squad next season.
Chelsea have also loaned Sarr to Strasbourg where, like Anselmino, he made his debut at the Club World Cup and it will be interesting to see what decision the Blues make regarding him next summer.
