First, contrary to all the advice I give my students about constructing effective persuasive arguments, feel free to ignore this idea. Tony Vitello has done it. I can hear his hollow voice, which suddenly sounds a lot like Graham Chapman, hissing in my ears as I write this: Stop it, it’s so stupid.
Yes, having Heliot Ramos anywhere but left field on the Opening Day roster would be a stupid things to do, especially If only the reason for doing this is to maintain the San Francisco Giants’ weird momentum of fielding a different left fielder on Opening Day every year since Barry Bonds in 2007.
But now it’s late March. Baseball blooms. The days are getting wider. The flowers cast colors from their petals and I remember Aokiki.

winning streak Life– At least, one more day. While I believe that the left fielder’s list, repeated often enough, becomes a poem, a mantra, linked to the breath, a reliquary with its name surrounding a sacred pearl, I do not believe in the spell of the universe. Each successive name represents a void that cannot be filled. Players’ physical performances announced at the last minute who cares? Is this winning streak a living tribute to the best player of all time? memorial? Or is this a record of questionable incompetence? A curse whose true consequences finally reared their ugly heads?
As Bryan points out, the Giants are on the threshold of franchise notoriety, having gone four winless seasons. Are they about to start the fifth? One could certainly argue that now is the time to exorcise some demons and end Ramos’ 19-game winning streak. Willy Adames hits 30 home runs in 2025, killing another weird franchise monster and bringing some perspective: Players who hit 30 home runs are better than none. It stands to reason that a consistent left fielder would also be better than a rotational player. A club that often has one foot stuck in the mire of nostalgia should invite change. I imagine this is a problem for many franchisees. We hope Boomerang fans will celebrate the successful past and reflect on the successful present. Look at this: a complete line The winner wins. But for many people, “Remember those guys!“Celebrations can distract people from uncomfortable things”Who are these people?” The field is now being populated.
It’s time to clear out these old, tarnished artifacts that are so onerous but oddly comforting.
