Two classic games in the social simulation series, The Sims and The Sims 2, have been re-released. Both games are now available on PC via the EA app, the Epic Games Store, and Steam as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle. They can also be purchased individually as The Sims Legacy Collection and The Sims 2 Legacy Collection. The re-released version of the game includes all previous bonus content and DLC, but no updated graphics.
The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 Legacy Collection Now Available
Publisher EA announced Friday that The Sims and The Sims 2 will be re-released, detailing all the bonus content bundled with the games.
“To celebrate our legacy and pay tribute to the incredible fans who have been with us every step of the way, we are re-releasing two fan-favorite games featuring familiar communities and beloved characters – like the cunning thief, unpredictable elf and tragic clown Sunny – that started it all,” EA said in a statement.
The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle includes the Legacy Collection versions of both games, original characters and music, and all pre-existing DLC.
Neither game has remastered graphics or gameplay, but has been updated to support modern computers and Windows 10 and 11 operating systems. According to EA, The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 Legacy Collection also feature an updated rendering engine and more versatile pixel resolution scaling on larger displays. Some legacy issues and community-reported bugs in The Sims 2 have also been fixed.
The Sims 1 still runs at its native resolution, but when playing on a larger monitor, users can scale the pixels by pressing Alt+Enter and cycling through the available options.
The re-releases of both games will also support old save files, which can be copied to new save paths.
The Sims: Legacy Collection includes The Sims, The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit, and all previous DLC—The Sims: Livin’ Large, The Sims: House Party, The Sims: Hot Date, The Sims: Vacation, The Sims: Unleashed, The Sims: Superstar, and The Sims: Makin’ Magic.
The Sims 2 Legacy Collection includes The Sims 2 base game, The Sims 4: Grunge Revival Kit, and all previous DLC — The Sims 2: University, The Sims 2: Nightlife, The Sims 2: Open for Business, The Sims 2: Pets, The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 2: FreeTime, The Sims 2: Apartment Life, The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack, The Sims 2: Family Fun, The Sims 2: Charmed Life, The Sims 2: Happy Holidays, The Sims 2: Celebrate! Profile, The Sims 2: H&M Fashion Profile, The Sims 2: Teen Style Profile, The Sims 2: Kitchen and Bathroom Interior Design Profile, and The Sims 2: Mansion and Garden Profile.
The Sims 1 and 2 Legacy Collection versions are priced at Rs. 1,199 rupees 1,799 on EA App, Steam and Epic Games Store. Both games can be purchased together as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for Rs. 2,199.
