The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Screenshots Leak, Said to Release ‘Next Week’

Bethesda is reportedly preparing to relaunch The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion this month. Rumors about the remake have intensified over the past month, with industry insiders saying the game could launch anytime in April. While Bethesda has yet to reveal an Oblivion remaster, a newly leaked image all but confirms a remaster of the original game is in the works. A new announcement also narrows the release window for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered to next week.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Annihilation Remastered Image Leaked

Recent rumors pointed to an Annihilation remake being surprisingly announced and launching in April, but the latest leak suggests the project is a remaster of the classic RPG rather than a remaster. Leaked screenshots on the website of developer Virtous, which is said to be working on the game, reveal the remaster’s graphical enhancements, character models, environments, and other details.

The images appeared on ResetEra and were shared on social media sites. The leaked screenshots include key art, images comparing the remaster to the original game, and more. The promotional image confirms the title of the game as “The Elder Scrolls IV: Annihilation Remastered”. Previous reports stated that the Bethesda RPG was being completely remade in Unreal Engine 5. Details about the scope of the remaster and the improvements that will come with it will become clear once the game is officially announced.

According to information leaked on the website (via VGC), Oblivion Remastered is being developed by Virtous in partnership with Bethesda’s Dallas and Rockville studios. The game will reportedly release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X with Game Pass.

“The Elder Scrolls IV: Annihilation Remastered” release schedule

Bethesda and Microsoft have yet to confirm the game, but multiple industry sources say the project is imminent. Earlier this month, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb claimed that a new version of Annihilation could be released as a Shadow Edition “any time” in April. Around the same time, another source said the game might launch the week of April 21, after The Elder Scrolls Online’s anniversary event. The in-game ESO anniversary event starts on April 3rd and will last until April 22nd

Grubb has now narrowed down the release window for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, claiming on the latest episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast that the game will launch “next week.”

“I’ll give people a week right now. The week of April 21st, so basically the last week of the month – essentially next week,” Grubb said on the podcast Monday. “Then the shadow should come down, and I think, you know, other people have said that, but I’ve had separate confirmation that that’s the case.”

Leaked screenshots suggest an announcement could be coming soon, which lines up with the timeline Grubb shared. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was originally released in 2006 on PC and Xbox 360.
