Terry Black’s Barbecue has been working on expanding to San Antonio for years, and while it has already broken ground on its upcoming restaurant, the Austin-based barbecue chain’s plans also appear to include a luxurious spa experience.
It’s safe to say that a spa day at Terry Black’s is out of the question, but Black Family Hospitality is indeed building a bathroom in an adjacent space next to the San Antonio restaurant, according to a construction project recently filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
The document provides the following details about the bathroom concept: “The bathrooms include two hot spas, two cold spas, two cold pools, a large linear spa and a salt floating pool. There will also be a steam room, cold mist room, massage room and high-end locker rooms with full spa facilities.”
The name of the facility listed in the TDLR filing is “The Depths,” which may be the working name for the bathroom. Documents show installation costs will be as high as $8 million.
Terry Black’s Barbecue will break ground on its first San Antonio restaurant in 2025, with plans to build a hotel and parking garage nearby. The bathroom could be part of the proposed hotel, so MySA contacted Black Family Hospitality to confirm more details about the project. We did not receive an immediate response, but we will update this story with more developments.

San Antonio isn’t the only city Terry Black’s is looking to expand into, as the barbecue chain plans to bring restaurants to New Braunfels and even Tennessee.
