The talented quarterback out of Ohio State showed great potential as a rookie, but his second and third seasons in the NFL were mediocre in comparison.
Sunday’s crushing loss to the New England Patriots in the snow ended the Texans’ AFC Divisional Round run for the season, a Houston franchise that has never advanced past this round in the postseason.
Questions are now being asked about Stroud. He is eligible for an extension for the first time this offseason.

Now, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor has other questions: Could the Texans trade Stroud?
“The Texans haven’t given any indication that C.J. Stroud will be available, but since he struggled in the postseason with seven turnovers in two games, his status may be worth monitoring,” Pryor wrote.
This is written in the context of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ search for their next quarterback, but it’s worth noting regardless.

There really wasn’t any mention of the Stroud trade by any reputable reporter, but now it’s here.

Apparently, it acknowledges that this doesn’t appear to be on the table yet. But the fact that this could even be an idea for a player with Stroud’s pedigree and role on the team is big news.
This will fuel some rumors and speculation, which could end up getting louder if contract negotiations drag on.
