Talaysia Cooper game-time decision, Kaniya Boyd out for Lady Vols vs Arkansas

The Lady Vols basketball team had two defenders available in its gameday update on the SEC injury report.

Kania Boyd will miss his second straight game with a calf injury, but Talessia Cooper was not listed in the initial report on Jan. 10 but was listed as a game-time decision in the game-day update on Jan. 11.

Boyd was listed as out on both the initial and game-day SEC injury reports before No. 22 Tennessee (11-3, 3-0 SEC) hosts Arkansas (11-7, 0-3) on Jan. 11 (2 p.m. ET, SEC Network+) at Food City Center.

Cooper is at the heart of everything the Lady Vols do as their leading scorer and leader in assists and steals. Cooper averaged 14.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.4 steals per game, and shot 44.4% from the field. Cooper has not missed a game this season.

Boyd, a redshirt sophomore, sat out the Lady Vols’ road win over Mississippi State on Jan. 8. She hit a boot on her left foot while on the bench and missed the first game of the season.

Boyd is an important part of Tennessee’s rotation, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. With or without the ball, she brings strong defensive pressure and speed that few players on the team possess.
