T20 World Cup Super 8 matches: Date, time, full schedule and upcoming matches for qualified teams

New Delhi: Australia’s T20 World Cup journey came to an abrupt end as Zimbabwe’s Group B match against Ireland at Palleke was washed out by heavy rain on Tuesday without a single ball being bowled.

That abandonment proved decisive, with Zimbabwe reaching the second stage of the World Cup for the first time in a split tie, with the 2021 champions eliminated.

Seven teams have already secured their spots in the next round. Zimbabwe are in Group One along with defending champions India, West Indies and South Africa. The second group includes Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand, with either Pakistan or the United States completing the line-up.

Pakistan will face Namibia on Wednesday in a must-win game to keep alive their hopes of reaching the Super Eights. Namibia is out but Pakistan cannot afford defeat. If they lose, they will be ranked lower than Team USA and miss out on qualifying.

If Pakistan’s match against Namibia is eliminated, the two teams will share one point, which is enough for Pakistan to finish second in Group A and advance.

However, even if Pakistan fails, it will not automatically give the United States a pass.

Their fate may depend on India’s encounter with Netherlands in Ahmedabad.

A good win for the Netherlands against India would also give them four points, leaving the net run rate to decide whether the US or the Netherlands advance to the Super Eights.
