Steve Young has perfect reaction to former 49ers’ reason for leaving

The San Francisco 49ers have been traveling all over the place leading up to Super Bowl 60, which will be held at their home stadium (Levi’s Stadium) in Santa Clara, California.

Earlier this week, former 49ers quarterback Steve Young, wide receiver Jerry Rice and cornerback Deion Sanders shared the stage at the Nike Chase the Smoke event at the Nike House in San Francisco.

The three shared stories about their time with the 49ers, but the best moment may have been when Sanders explained why he left San Francisco after his only season with the team in 1994.

“You know why I decided to go to Dallas, because I played baseball for the Giants here as well, and I was sitting in a sports bar and I looked at this white guy who was wearing No. 21 in the preseason and I said, ‘Oh, Lord, my God. I don’t think I’m ever going to go back there,'” Sanders said. “That’s how I found out I wasn’t going to be a 49er again.”

Yang’s reaction to the news was hilarious.

“Are you kidding me? I thought you abandoned us,” Yang said after a minute of holding her head in her hands.

Yang continued to feel disappointed for a few minutes, eventually leaning back in her chair and sulking for a moment as the conversation continued.

The 49ers won the Super Bowl in Sanders’ only year with the team and never came back. Young played five more seasons with San Francisco but never played in another Super Bowl.
