Panic has set in following the death of T.J. Watt, who recently underwent surgery to repair a partially collapsed lung from a dry-needling incident, but an insider offers a glimmer of hope for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get through this difficult time.
Following Watt’s surgery, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided a much-needed update on veteran Steele, including whether Watt will return during the 2025 regular season.

“My understanding is [Watt] Expected to play again this season,” Rapoport said. “We heard from Mike Tomlin and some of the other Steelers players who obviously gave T.J. Watt their best wishes. You hope he comes back soon. “
With Watt out in Week 15, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig will be the Steelers’ starting rushing tandem, and they’ll likely see more starts as the veteran linebacker recovers from lung surgery.
