Stabbing in popular downtown L.A. restaurant leaves 4 injured

Four women were injured in downtown Los Angeles in what police said was a stabbing investigation, prompting investigators to shut down a busy intersection in the area.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to 515 W.7th According to reports, a stabbing incident occurred on the street near the intersection of Flower Street.

Officials say the caller described a suspect who was 7 years old and carrying a folding knifeth Street and Grand Avenue, but it was unclear if anyone was arrested.

Officials said details were limited and it was unclear what exactly happened, but preliminary information suggested there may have been some kind of altercation at a bar in the downtown restaurant district that left four women aged 26 to 37 injured.

All four were taken to hospital in good condition, although investigators said the woman in her 30s suffered a severe cut to her wrist.

The incident appears to have occurred inside the Zaya Bar and Restaurant, which has multiple areas for patrons to sit. The restaurant posted a statement on Instagram Sunday night, which read in part:

“While some situations develop unexpectedly and beyond our control, the safety of our guests and employees remains our top priority. We are especially grateful for the quick response of our team and the immediate support of local law enforcement and emergency personnel.”

Citizen-posted video of the incident showed a heavy police presence at the intersection, along with firefighters and paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
