This game has some local ties…a kid from my neighborhood, Kellen Strahm, is an RFer for the Astros. Total trivia…he was the quarterback at Sheldon High School (we sent 5 kids there) just before…Justin Herbert (you may have heard of him), another neighbor kid. Kellen made a couple of nice catches there.

Speaking of super utility roles – Zobrist/Figgins/etc., personality, staying and being ready for multiple positions, there’s more of an intention to fit into that role now than before. Once a person realizes that he is not going to be a regular person in a fixed location, the motivation to stay drives him to adapt.

Update on Herrera’s throw…throws to all bases. He pitched well. Getting better and better. Hope to get to DH today and catch up on Sunday.

The logistics of a six-man rotation during the spring were discussed. It takes backcourt play to do that.

Libby seems to be in good shape. 51 balls in 3 innings. The conductor wasn’t entirely sharp (typical for February). Ball seemed completely out of his control. A variety of pitches are used.

Walker got the rights to a lot of business. It still looks smoother there. Shows strong arms.

Won with some nice defensive play. We have come to expect this from him. He appears to be recovering well from offseason knee surgery.

Romero quickly beat the Astros in the fourth.

Pozo hit a wind-assisted home run. There is a new 2 deck club area built around the LF foul pole which seems to be introducing some new wind power there. LFs, be careful!

Burleson beat HR by 3 points.

The Cardinals offense was bolstered by a big outburst from Jon Jon Gazdar late in the game.

The final score was 9-4 Cardinals. 4 home runs (Pozo, Burleson, Crooks, Gazdar).

Raquette, Bluett and Schuster run the ball with ease every game. Moreno played beautifully in the 9th inning.

Receiver Yazzi looks pretty strong defensively, especially his arm. I haven’t seen him before but will be watching more now.

The game temperature is over 70 degrees. Although there were a few clouds, it was a beautiful day all around.
