British stone. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis County woman accused of beating two children with a spatula is facing serious charges.
According to the Maryland Heights Police Department, officers were informed of the alleged child abuse incident on Dec. 17. A criminal complaint filed by Maryland Heights police said a 12-year-old victim reported Lisa Leighton of St. Ann “hit him with a silicone spatula.”
Upon examination, police found bruises on the 12-year-old boy’s body. Another victim, an 11-year-old boy, told law enforcement that Layton also hit him with a silicone spatula, authorities said.
Based on those reports, detectives interviewed Layton. Layton admitted to officers that she did hit both children with a silicone spatula, the criminal complaint states.
St. Louis County prosecutors charged Layton with the following crimes:

2nd abuse or neglect of a child under Section 568.060.5(1) – no sexual contact
Court records show Layton is in custody and a judge set a cash-only bond of $750,000, with 10 percent not authorized.
According to Layton arrest warrantshe was investigated after a 9-month-old baby died of starvation.
She is expected to return to court on December 29 for a bail reduction hearing.
