Srixon adds black chrome finish to ZXi7, ZXi5 irons

Black irons have a feel that can even make the driving range feel more serious, and Srixon clearly understands that. The company just released limited-edition Black Chrome versions of its ZXi7 and ZXi5 irons, taking two of the most refined models in its current lineup and giving them a darker, more aggressive look without changing the performance DNA that made them popular in the first place.

If you like compact form, soft feel and clean address contours, then the ZXi7 Black Chrome is for you. The ZXi7 is the control iron in the series, designed for skilled golfers who value accuracy and shot shaping. It’s a single-piece forged piece made from S15C steel (the softest material Srixon has ever used) using the company’s i-FORGED process, which strengthens key areas of the head to maintain structural integrity while maintaining feel.

The limited-edition Srixon ZXi7 irons are ideal for golfers who value control and feel.

i-FORGED construction stretches material to the socket and topline for added strength, while enlarged PureFrame ridges behind the sweet spot enhance stability and absorb vibration on impact. Pair that with Srixon’s Tour VT sole, which combines sole width, bounce and relief to help the club glide through the turf, and you have an iron built for players who want to be able to fly down, chip left, hit right and control distance with precision.

The ZXi5 Black Chrome, on the other hand, is the option for gamers who are farther away. It offers a slightly wider base, moderate blade length, and more offset, giving the stronger casual player a combination of speed and forgiveness without going into full game improvement territory. The shaft is forged from S20C steel, while the SUP10 face works with Srixon’s MainFrame system, an internal network of milled channels that help the face flex more efficiently to maintain ball speed on off-center hits.

Like the ZXi7, the ZXi5 Black Chrome features i-FORGED technology for strength and feel, and a Tour VT sole for improved turf interaction. The result is irons that produce higher ball speeds and a little extra carry, but still allow skilled players to control trajectory and spin.

So what’s new besides cosmetics?

The finish itself is a durable black chrome finish designed to reduce glare while aiming while adding a darker, more uniform look to the entire unit. The stock build continues the Blackout theme, with a Dynamic Gold Mid 115 Tour Issue bronze steel shaft and Golf Pride MCC black/gray grips. It’s a well-thought-out overall design from the traction to the sole.

Pricing for a set of ZXi7 or ZXi5 irons in stock steel configuration remains the same as the standard ZXi model at $1,299.99. So you won’t pay extra for a dark finish, but you’ll get a limited-edition look on a platform that’s already designed around feel and performance.

Performance-wise, nothing fundamental has changed, but visually these irons send a very different message at impact. For some golfers, this can make their game feel sharper.
