Sidney Crosby to miss at least 4 weeks after Penguins place captain on injured reserve

Sidney Crosby will miss at least a month after being placed on injured reserve by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. Canada’s captain suffered a lower-body injury during Canada’s Olympic men’s quarterfinal win over the Czech Republic last week.

The Penguins did not release any details about Crosby’s injury.

With the NHL resuming play Wednesday after the Olympic break, the Penguins won’t be able to play until Thursday at home against the New Jersey Devils.

Crosby didn’t play in Canada’s semifinal win over Finland and its gold-medal loss to the United States, but he took multiple hits in the second period against the Czech Republic. He eventually left the game after he was seen shaking his right leg.

Crosby was not ruled out for the remainder of the game after undergoing an MRI and was a game-time decision for Team Canada’s final two games.
